Congressman Rooney Praises Labor Department’s Decision to Categorize Worker Center as a Labor Organization

Congressman Francis Rooney praised the Labor Department’s landmark decision to categorize a Minneapolis worker center as a labor organization. Under this new determination, the Center of Workers United in Struggle must abide by federal rules governing unions. Previously, they were avoiding federal rules and labor law even though they were fundamentally operating as a union.

Congressman Rooney stated, “For far too long, worker centers across the United States have been indistinctly acting as unions without having to abide by federal union laws and rules. The Labor Department’s decision is a positive step towards promoting transparency for employees. If an organization operates as a union, they must follow the applicable laws and rules so that no activities are hidden from their members or the public.”

“I encourage Secretary Scalia to continue to hold those engaging in collective bargaining accountable to the law under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act and the National Labor Relations Act. I look forward to working with the Secretary to establish appropriate and fair transparency related to all labor organizations. It is critical to protect workers and root out corruption like we are seeing by the United Auto Workers and Gary Jones, and to hold all union bosses accountable.”

Background:

  • Congressman Rooney previously introduced the Accountability for Represented Workers Act to offer more transparency and close the worker center loophole by affirming they operate under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA).
  • Congressman Rooney questioned former Secretary Acosta about the worker center loophole on multiple occasions and sent a follow up letter in December 2018 requesting the Secretary continue to examine the issue.
  • Congressman Rooney reintroduced the Union Transparency and Accountability Act introduced earlier this year to codify increase financial transparency for the T-1, LM-2 and LM-30 forms.

November President’s Message – Salute Success

Jim Carter
President, Men’s Republican Club

Salute to Veterans was an inspiring event. Our WWII vets were magnificent. Not a dry eye in the house.

Captain Roger Hill received a standing ovation for his heart felt presentation. This was a historical moment in history. It made you proud to be an American.

To everyone who worked so hard to make this happen, l applaud you for the many hours you spent making this a memorable day for our Veterans.

I don’t have to tell you America is at the crossroads of history. The radical left is out to change our way of life for ever. Not one candidate believes in you. It’s all about them. They have embraced extreme positions to destroy the very fiber of what this great Republic is all about.

Remember Progressives are about Social Engineering, expanded bureaucracy, eliminating free speech and Controlling every thing you do. They are elitist. You are not capable of managing your own life.

Progressive movements  always lead to some form of Dictatorship. Recent examples are Venezuela and Cuba.

Those of you who subscribe to Prime on your TV programming ,  Dinesh D’Souza’s film Hillary’s America is now available. It reveals the sordid truth about Hilary and the Secret History of the Democratic Party.  It’s a must watch!

No doubt President Trump spoiled the party. It’s more than the 2016 election. It’s about destroying America and blaming the Republican  Party for its down fall. The Democrats are masters at transference. They commit the crime and in conjunction with biased media blame the Republicans for the problem. The Ukraine is the most recent example. So, watch the film, take notes and get ready for 2020!

While a lot of this is the reality of our times, please remember we are truly blessed. Thanksgiving is a special day. Enjoy it with family and friends. See you at our December meeting Jim Carter Jim@cartercarter.com

Jim Carter
President, Men’s Republican Club

Our Annual Salute to Veterans is a very special day for our Club. It’s our chance to say “thank you” to the men and women who have served our country with honor and distinction.

Senator Rick Scott

I’m delighted to announce our former Governor and now U. S. Senator Rick Scott will provide a video presentation at our event. He is a Navy veteran and a major advocate for a strong National defense.  We are proud of his dedication to serve our country both in the military and as an elected official. Having his video and Captain Roger Hill will provide us with a memorable event.

This year through the efforts of Jerry Sanford, we will have up to 20 WWII veterans joining us for our celebration. Included in this group is General Douglas MacArther’s driver. Of course our own Col. Charles Sues, South Pacific and Korea will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  WOW! This event will be over the top!

Featured Speaker – Captain Roger Hill

Captain Roger Hill served as the commander of Dog Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the hotly contested province of Wardak, Afghanistan. After months of intense fighting and a thirty percent casualty rate, Roger was relieved as the commander of Dog Company for interrogating spies his command discovered yet refused to take into custody. The spies, which included Captain Hill’s Army assigned translator, were released by the command while Roger was charged with war crimes.
Captain Hill’s story is detailed in his book Dog Company, A True Story of American Soldiers Abandoned By Their High Command, co-authored by Lynn Vincent. Dog Company demonstrates what happens when the politics of appeasement are allowed onto the front lines of combat.
Roger has since led a successful career in senior operations management and systems engineering in Atlanta, Georgia. Roger and his wife Abigail Christmas Hill, a long time subject matter expert and advocate for human trafficking victims, met while ministering to victims of sexual exploitation in the Atlanta metro. Roger continues to serve as a champion for our military veterans and first responders. Roger has spoken about his experiences in dozens of public forums to include on national TV and radio.

Captain Roger Hill

About Captain Roger Hill

Roger Hill is an author, speaker, and warrior for justice and honor. Upon commissioning from West Point, Roger spent ten years as a U.S. Army infantry officer, Ranger, combat advisor, operations officer, and company commander with service to Korea, The Old Guard, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Roger is most known for his courage and leadership under fire in Afghanistan. Roger served as the commander in the famed 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the hotly contested province of Wardak. After months of intense fighting and a thirty percent casualty rate, Captain Hill was relieved as the commander of Dog Company for interrogating spies his higher command discovered yet refused to prosecute. The network of twelve spies Roger uncovered included his Army assigned translator. The spies were released by Hill’s higher command while Roger was charged with war crimes. War crimes are punishable by death or long-term imprisonment.

Roger risked severe punishment for not bowing to an Administration that valued the enemy’s lives above the lives of his men. It has been often stated that Roger’s actions saved hundreds of lives and continues to save lives today. Major revisions to the NATO rules of engagement and to U.S. military counterintelligence protocols have been made due to the systemic and life-endangering loopholes Roger exposed throughout his ordeal. Today’s frontline soldiers and Marines are no doubt safer for those changes.

Captain Hill’s story is detailed in his book Dog Company, A True Story of American Soldiers Abandoned By Their High Command, co-authored by NYTs best-selling author and Navy veteran Lynn Vincent. Dog Company demonstrates what happens when the politics of appeasement are allowed onto the front lines of combat.

Roger has since led a successful career as a systems engineer, senior operations manager, and operations integrator for tech firms in the Atlanta metro. Roger and his wife Abigail Hill, a long time advocate for human trafficking victims, live in Atlanta with their four children. Roger maintains a B.S. of Engineering from West Point and an MBA in Technology Management from Georgia Tech. In addition to speaking, Roger consults in the areas of organizational leadership and operations integration while serving as an ambassador for the veteran-centered nonprofits Operation Restored Warrior and Veteran’s Lodge.

KEEPING AMERICA GREAT THROUGH EDUCATING OUR YOUNG PEOPLE

The Go-To event of the 2019 season is our:

THIRD ANNUAL SALUTE TO VETERANS
Featuring
CAPTAIN ROGER HILL
Friday, November 1, 2019
11:30 a.m.
Naples Hilton
Lunch and program $125.00 each

Jim Carter
President, Men’s Republican Club

The Republican Men’s Club has recognized and honored the men and women who have been serving and protecting these United States of America since the Declaration of Independence 229 years ago.

We took these events to a new level, three years ago, when KENI THOMAS, hero of Black Hawk Down, the Battle of Mogadishu brought the packed house to our feet with thunderous applause.

Last year we recognized another hero, KRIS “TANTO” PARONTO, THE INSIDE ACCOUNT OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN BENGHAZI.

This year we are continuing the tradition of bringing to you a Veteran who represents what so many have endured. CAPTAIN ROGER HILL, a warrior for justice and honor, commander of Dog Company, first Battalion, 506th Airborne. Captain Hill served in Korea, Iraq, and Wardak province Afghanistan. His story of Afghanistan is heartbreaking. He will relate what happens when the politics of Appeasement are allowed on the front lines of combat.

Captain Roger Hill

Captain Hill’s story is of leadership and what it takes when you are confronted with life changing events. Many of our Veterans will relate to his combat situation. All of us can identify with stressful challenges. The take away is to be strong in your values and beliefs that support freedom, individual accountability and responsibility.

Our mission in the Men’s Republican Club is not only to recognize our Veterans for their service but to support programs that represent what they fought for to keep us a sovereign Nation. Also, we know that our young people today are not being taught “real history” in our schools. That is one of the reasons we founded the Men’s Republican Club Scholarship Program. Our goal is to “ Play it Forward” helping to influence our local young people, through continuing education, toward a better understanding of what it takes to be free.

Therefore, the proceeds from these events go to our Scholarship Programs. Last year we invested $15,000.00 in the young people of our community through individual scholarships: FGCU Endowment Fund, Lorenzo Walker Technical College – Certification Scholarships, ITECH, BSA-Immokalee Summer Camp and NAACP National Flight Academy. The recipients were all deserving young people you never hear about. Many will stay and work in our Community. THEY ARE OUR FUTURE!

Freedom is not free. You have to work for it. You can do your part by purchasing at least one ticket to our Solute to Veterans event for $125.00. Better yet, buy a table and bring your spouse, friends and neighbors. Join many of our members in becoming sponsors. Check out our “sponsor” section. Enjoy a great program, a fine meal and meet veterans from WW11 through today’s war in Afghanistan. Support our Scholarship program and promote Republican ideals to defeat Socialism.
THANK YOU!

The Most Dangerous Amendment

Jim Carter

Fellow Republicans. A number of Florida constitutional amendments have appeared on the ballot over the years. These are the result of special interest groups not getting what they want through the legislative process.

In 2020 the most dangerous proposed amendment of all time is being pushed by those seeking to neuter our U.S. Second Amendment Rights.

Join our Attorney General Moody in stopping this from getting on the ballot. The following is the current Ballot wording AND it’s implications if passed.
