Fellow Republicans. A number of Florida constitutional amendments have appeared on the ballot over the years. These are the result of special interest groups not getting what they want through the legislative process.

In 2020 the most dangerous proposed amendment of all time is being pushed by those seeking to neuter our U.S. Second Amendment Rights.

California has the top marginal income tax rate of 13.3%. The highest in the nation. Although New York is certainly trying to catch up.

Approximately 150,000 households out of a population of 40 million pay close to 50% of the states total income tax. The high income tax rates won’t be phased out because nearly 40% of the states residents pay no income tax.

They recently approved its extension California has the highest combined local and state sales tax in the country. It applies to goods purchased out of state.

With the federal income tax deduction capped at $10,000, it effectively doubled high income earners tax bill. You would think state legislators would be concerned and try to ease Californians tax burden. No way. Instead they raised the estate tax to 40% on estates with a net worth of $3.5 million for single residents and $7 million on married couples. Result it forces children to sell homes, family businesses and farms to pay tax bill. The result a huge number of middle class tax payers are leaving the state for low tax or no tax states.

What do Californians get for high taxes? Not much! Crumbling infrastructure and schools that rate near the bottom on national state ratings. San Francisco ranks first in property crimes per capita. Close to 25% of the nation’s homeless live in California. Almost 1/3 of the nations population living on public assistance reside in California and 1/5 it’s people live below the poverty line. 1/3 of MedCal recipients are classified as low income people.

California social programs are magnets for indigents from all over the world. 27% of the states residents were not born in the U.S. Recently about 100,000 foreign nationals were stopped at the border. So what’s the problem?

California has more billionaires (124) and millionaires (885,000) than any other state in the country. Shouldn’t this wealth take care of the problem? No! They have so much money and the resources to minimize their taxes, it doesn’t phase them.

The top income tax rate may hurt a family making $400,000/year but if it’s $4 million its a no brainer. The middle class is being systematically destroyed. Venezuela seems to be the California model. Crony capitalists destroying the middle class to subsidize the poor.

I hope you can see why California, a state run by Social Democrats, is the last place we would look for National leadership. Kamala Harris is a product of the system. She would feel equally at home in Venezuela or Cuba.

July 4 1776, was a day that changed the World. This was the day a Nation was born – 13 colonies became the United States of America with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It gave The colonialists a choice: fight for freedom and be INDEPENDENT OR BE DEPENDENT ON THE CROWN OF ENGLAND.

Independent means self governing, self reliant.

At birth we are dependent on our parents and other family members. As we grow up, we have the opportunity to experience the greatness of a Nation which gives us every opportunity to be INDEPENDENT.

Each of us makes life choices to stand up for what we believe or abdicate to others. Often what seems like an unimportant decision becomes a pattern for not taking action(s) to express your belief or point of view.

The excuses are many. Most common are the need to be liked or accepted, explained away by don’t make waves, etc.. These collective actions erode your individual freedom and make you more dependent on others. The most dangerous consequence is not paying attention to what happens in GOVERNMENT at all levels of our society.

We the people have allowed our individual freedoms to be compromised in exchange for promises of a better life by letting government take over, for example health care or education. The consequences are you gave up your freedom of choice and allow people who have no vested interest in YOU to make decisions for you.

Independence isn’t easy. You have to speak up against group think! Freedom isn’t Free. It takes a lot of work. Much like those who fought in The American Revolution you often will be a minority.

President Trump proved this to us in 2016. Few thought he would get the Republican Party nomination and it was a forgone conclusion he wouldn’t be elected President. He proved Independence is still alive. He was elected President. The results have been extraordinary!

2020 will be the Waterloo for our great Republic. 23 National Socialist Democrats, running for President, want America to be Dependent on Big Government. They don’t want you to be Independent. They want more government, more taxes and Less individual freedom.

If, at the end of the Revolutionary War, they were living here, it’s a high probability, they would have been on the first ship back to England.

Greetings from the Isle of Man, our summer home in The Irish Sea halfway between England and Ireland. From my window I see the hills of the English Lake District and the mountains of Galloway in Scotland.

The Races are over and 20,000 motorbikes with their riders, girlfriends, wives and sweethearts are heading home. They come from Europe, Australia and America for two weeks of racing over 37miles of ordinary roads through the villages and towns of the island. The course climbs from Sea Level, rising to 3000 feet across the mountain at an average speed of 120mph. If you have the time go to Google and type in Isle of Man TT Races (TT = Tourist Trophy). You will find lots of videos to scare the life out of you!!

Now to the serious stuff. As islanders, we in the Isle of Man understand the ‘calm’ before the next storm. Well that is the UK today. Everything is building to what could be a major constitutional and not just a political crisis.

Boris Johnson, England’s own Donald Trump, is a rumbustious, shoot from the hip popularist and is the front runner for Mrs May’s job. He says deal or no deal, he will take the UK out of the EU on 31 October and if necessary, without the consent of Parliament. Such a move would cause a constitutional crisis not seen in England since the Parliamentary Reforms of 1850’s.!! He also says he will abolish the ‘Irish Backstop’ which is the name given to the UK/EU agreement dealing with the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic after the UK has left the EU. But how will he do that?? Because it will be for the EU and Irish Republic, not the UK, to enforce that border. He talks a lot but has yet to be challenged in serious debate or to explain himself in a formal TV/radio interview.

A few months ago Boris seemed like a busted flush but then the UK was obliged, because it was still a member, to participate in the elections for the European Parliament. Those elections though in many ways meaningless for the British, did allow one man to put the fear of electoral death into Conservative party activists and that man was Nigel Farage and his Brexit Party. Almost overnight it seemed to many Conservatives that the only one among them with the raucous campaign skills to smother Farage and beat the Socialist Corbyn, was Boris!

Nonetheless what makes any Conservative think a new leader can get a new or better deal with the EU? Because every contender for Mrs May’s job must now vow to achieve that even though the EU has already said it will not renegotiate. Which makes the prospect of a Boris led government allowing the UK to crash out by default on 31 October, a realistic scenario. Many Conservative MP’s horrified at that prospect might again, as they did to Mrs May, vote against their own new Boris led government, thereby forcing a General Election. But this time in such an election they would be led not by a cautious careful Mrs May, but by a robust Boris who many feel could win against Farange and Crobyn, who between them would split the opposition vote. Wishful thinking!

We now have several weeks while UK politics becomes just Conservative party politics. All the while 31 October draws nearer and in Brussels a new EU Commission (government) comes into being.

The opposite to Boris, is Jeremy Hunt who is worth watching. A serious thinking politician and with ministerial experience, who in the end may have greater appeal, than Boris, to the majority of middle class Conservative party members. Remember it is them not the MP’s who will make the final choice.

Having dealt with Boris and Brexit, next time I will turn to more interesting headlines around the World.

PS. This morning Boris says that if Prime Minister, he would suspend Parliament and take Britain out of the EU on 31 October. King Charles 1 suspended Parliament and tried to rule alone. The English chopped off his head!!
