Jim Carter
President, Men’s Republican Club

The Republican Men’s Club has recognized and honored the men and women who have been serving and protecting these United States of America since the Declaration of Independence 229 years ago.

We took these events to a new level, three years ago, when KENI THOMAS, hero of Black Hawk Down, the Battle of Mogadishu brought the packed house to our feet with thunderous applause.

Last year we recognized another hero, KRIS “TANTO” PARONTO, THE INSIDE ACCOUNT OF WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN BENGHAZI.

This year we are continuing the tradition of bringing to you a Veteran who represents what so many have endured. CAPTAIN ROGER HILL, a warrior for justice and honor, commander of Dog Company, first Battalion, 506th Airborne. Captain Hill served in Korea, Iraq, and Wardak province Afghanistan. His story of Afghanistan is heartbreaking. He will relate what happens when the politics of Appeasement are allowed on the front lines of combat.

Captain Roger Hill

Captain Hill’s story is of leadership and what it takes when you are confronted with life changing events. Many of our Veterans will relate to his combat situation. All of us can identify with stressful challenges. The take away is to be strong in your values and beliefs that support freedom, individual accountability and responsibility.

Our mission in the Men’s Republican Club is not only to recognize our Veterans for their service but to support programs that represent what they fought for to keep us a sovereign Nation. Also, we know that our young people today are not being taught “real history” in our schools. That is one of the reasons we founded the Men’s Republican Club Scholarship Program. Our goal is to “ Play it Forward” helping to influence our local young people, through continuing education, toward a better understanding of what it takes to be free.

Therefore, the proceeds from these events go to our Scholarship Programs. Last year we invested $15,000.00 in the young people of our community through individual scholarships: FGCU Endowment Fund, Lorenzo Walker Technical College – Certification Scholarships, ITECH, BSA-Immokalee Summer Camp and NAACP National Flight Academy. The recipients were all deserving young people you never hear about. Many will stay and work in our Community. THEY ARE OUR FUTURE!

Freedom is not free. You have to work for it. You can do your part by purchasing at least one ticket to our Solute to Veterans event for $125.00. Better yet, buy a table and bring your spouse, friends and neighbors. Join many of our members in becoming sponsors. Check out our “sponsor” section. Enjoy a great program, a fine meal and meet veterans from WW11 through today’s war in Afghanistan. Support our Scholarship program and promote Republican ideals to defeat Socialism.
THANK YOU!
