2024 Elect Republicans Campaign

Russell Tuff – President

Hello fellow Republicans,

There has never been a more critical time in political history for Republicans to rally their resources to ensure the strength of our party. It is vital that we stay the course, increase our involvement in the community and grow our club.

This year, we provided numerous scholarships for Republican college students, Boy Scout camps, and vocational training. We also promote and donate to veteran service, hosted an annual Salute to Veterans Luncheon to honor veterans and bring in a national speaker. We are proud of these accomplishments, and we look forward to building upon them.

Republican Ideals Needed

To ensure the strength of Republican ideals in our elected bodies, it is essential that we increase the participation of young people in our party. The world has changed dramatically in how people engage and communicate. It is no longer enough to hand out brochures and rely on word of mouth to attract the next generation of voters.

This year we are going to launch a multi-media promotion of Republican Values. This campaign will include the use of digital resources and social media to influence younger voters, encourage their participation, and more importantly, secure their vote for our values.

  • We expect to reach 100,000 voters with this campaign.
  • We’ve proven our ability to resonate a message as we receive more than double the national “All Star” average of open rates of our newsletters at over 40%.

To succeed, we need your enthusiasm as well as your moral and financial support. Slogans and catchy phrases are not enough. We have to come up with an agenda that the American people can see, touch, and actually believe in.

I am counting on you.

Sincerely,
Russell Tuff

Congressman Francis Rooney earns Taxpayer Super Hero Award from Citizens Against Government Waste

Last week, Citizens Against Government Waste presented Congressman Francis Rooney with the Taxpayer Super Hero Award for 2017. The award identifies members of Congress who have upheld fiscal responsibility and resisted the temptation of voting for costly special interest projects.

Congressman Rooney stated, “I am proud to accept the Taxpayer Super Hero Award. I will continue to protect Americans’ hard-earned money from wasteful government spending and vote to enact fiscally responsible policy. Far too many politicians in Washington have lost sight of their duty to the people and have engaged with special interests. Out of 435 House members and 100 Senators, it is an honor to be one of only twelve to receive a 100% score from Citizens Against Government Waste. It is my hope that in 2018, more members will follow suit and stand up to the powerful lobbyists here in the swamp.”

Since 1989, The Citizens Against Government Waste has evaluated members of Congress’ voting records, considering tax, spending, transparency, and accountability measures. Only members with a 100% score received the Taxpayer Super Hero designation.

Congressman Rooney Statement on Passage of Consolidated Appropriations Act

Washington, DC – This afternoon, Congressman Francis Rooney voted for passage of H.R. 1625, the Consolidated Appropriations Act. While the bill is far from perfect, several key provisions have led to support for this legislation. Among these are:

  • Funding at the full amount requested by the Army Corps of Engineers for Everglades restoration projects and Herbert Hoover Dike repairs.
  • Rebuilding our military and providing the largest pay raise in eight years for the men and women serving our country.
  • Funding $1.6 billion for a wall along our southern border.
  • Securing $2 billion for veterans’ hospital maintenance and backlogged construction projects.
  • Providing $4.7 billion in assistance to address the horrors of opioid addiction.
  • Addressing school safety by passing the FIX NICS Act and designating $2 billion for school safety programs.
  • Elimination of healthcare cost sharing reduction payments – which were an Obama era giveaway to insurance companies.

Congressman Rooney stated, “Legislation is often imperfect, and this bill is no exception. The unfortunate reality is that sixty votes are needed in the Senate to pass an appropriations plan and keep our government open. Overall, I believe that rebuilding our military, which is struggling to provide parts for airplanes and now has the smallest Navy since WWI, is critical to the security of our country, and that funding Everglades restoration and Herbert Hoover Dike repairs at the full amount requested by the Army Corps is critical to Southwest Florida.”

President’s Message – March 2018

Jim Carter

Today. We are constantly bombarded by a 24/7 news media that who for the most part operates as a huge opinion machine.

I see little depth on any topic and the messages are delivered based on creating a particular outcome. No depth or balance. Sources are questionable and often incorrect. Most “special guests” are unknowns and have titles created to sound good. Usually a one person operation. Who made them “knowledge” experts?

It’s hard to fact check because some of the fact checker sites are run by people who distort the facts in the first place. Like you, I have been a victim of these situations. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably isn’t.

The political game today is Perception Management. The left, primarily European type Socialists, are masters of this advertising practice. Led by George Soros and his wealthy cronies they are pumping millions into the 2018 elections. Florida is a major target state. I’ll update you as we pin point the races and who is benefiting from this effort.

Remember no political office is of limits. Thy will target school boards, states attorneys, state House or Senate races where they can influence agendas.

Last point, what brought this on at such a vicious pace? Our election of Donald Trump. He took on the political machines of both parties and did what they haven’t done. Delivered on campaign promises. They hate his success . He has made many of them look like the incompetent people they are. A leadership style that keeps them reeling.

Unfortunately, it’s no longer about what is good for America. The agenda, Is to get Donald Trump . We must rise above this distorted and dangerous thinking. It doesn’t mean we can’t have healthy debate. Let’s try for civility and put America first.

Francis Rooney meets with Interior Secretary Zinke For Discussion of Draft Proposed Offshore Drilling Plan

On Tuesday, Congressman Francis Rooney met with Department of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and fellow coastal members of Congress, for a discussion of the draft proposed offshore drilling plan.

Congressman Rooney stated, “I would like to thank Secretary Zinke for his attention on offshore drilling – a proposal to drill in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico is wholly incompatible with Florida’s economy and ecology, and I appreciate the opportunity to express my thoughts directly. Making permanent the existing drilling moratorium that is set to expire in 2022 is critical to our unique Florida environment and to our military’s ability to properly train for combat.”

Congressman Rooney has led the fight on protecting Florida’s Gulf Coast:

Background:

  • H.R. 4770, Protecting and Securing Florida’s Coastline Act, amends the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 to permanently extend current moratorium boundaries.
  • Congressman Rooney is also a co-sponsor of two additional bills related to offshore drilling
  • H.R. 2002, Florida Coastal Protection Act – Provides for permanent extension of the Eastern Gulf of Mexico moratorium, straits of Florida planning region, and South Florida planning area.
  • H.R. 2261, Marine Oil Spill Prevention Act – Extends existing Eastern Gulf of Mexico moratorium to 2027 and codifies current drilling regulations.

Collier County Men’s Republican Club contributes to Scouting

Men’s Republican Club Members from right: John Thomas, Frank Seninsky, Neil Curly, Mike Lyster and Jim Carter

The Collier County Men’s Republican Club contributed $5,000 Thursday to the Southwest Florida Council Collier County ScoutReach campership program. The campership program funds youth who would not be able to attend week long Boy Scout summer camp without financial assistance. Boy Scout summer camp is the quintessential experience in which all Boy Scouts participate to move forward in the Scouting advancement program. The fit was perfect for the Club because each boy is required to help earn his way to camp as part of the program.

John Thomas, scholarship chair stated, “We believe scouting gives young people an opportunity to invest in their own future. Perhaps we can give them a little help toward achieving that goal.” Michael Lyster, committee member concurred, “Scouting offers vast opportunities for leadership, personal growth, and career education. Boy Scout summer camps offer that and so much more. Every young man deserves the opportunity to attend.”

Scouting’s Collier Chairman Sheriff Kevin Rambosk accepted the gift and allowed youth to speak to Scouting’s value in their lives. Speaking on behalf of youth benefiting from the support, star Scout Tito R. stated, “I took the Graphics Arts merit badge class at Boy Scout summer camp and realized I would like to do this as a career. I enrolled in iTech Immokalee Technical College in Immokalee and now have my Photoshop certification. Without my leaders and support like this, I wouldn’t have found out about this.” The merit badge program has been in practice since 1910 and is one of the career education components of the Boy Scouts of America program.

Boy Scouts are aged 11 to 17 years old and are formed in Troops. The Scouting program has three specific objectives. They are character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America, Southwest Florida Council is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Anyone wishing to contribute, volunteer, or explore the programs with their son or daughter may call (239) 207-5366 or email JamesG@Scouting.org.

The Collier County Men’s Republican Club is actively involved in raising funds to provide scholarships, endowments and contributions to local institutions and programs, such as the Boy Scouts of America, that advocate Republican ideals and principals. This gift is intended to help scouts take advantage of the valuable learning and leadership opportunities of a summer camp experience. The contribution defrays up to 75% of the cost of summer camp enrollment, with each scout endeavoring to raise their portion of the balance. By so doing, the CCRMC believes that the virtues inculcated in the Scout Oath and Law are reinforced when put into real-world practice.
